The Willing Advocate was not born in a boardroom. It was born in a hospital waiting room — by a caregiver who needed this platform and couldn't find it anywhere.
WHY WE EXIST
He Was Everything.
He was a veteran of two wars. A brick mason who built things with his hands. A man who invented solutions when the world said there weren't any. My grandfather gave everything to his country, his family, and his community — and in his final months, the system that should have held him up failed him completely.
I flew nine hours for a single appointment. I sat in waiting rooms while doctors re-diagnosed conditions they already knew about. I watched a lesion on his back go untreated for weeks. I was told — gently, clinically — to consider withdrawing care. That he had lived a full life.
He had fought for decades before finally receiving 100% VA disability. He deserved a system that worked. He deserved an advocate who knew every resource, every right, and every path forward.
I didn't have the words then. I was too tired. Too overwhelmed. Too deep inside the grief of watching someone I loved disappear inside a system that wasn't built to be navigated.
But I have the words now.
No caregiver should have to walk this road alone. Not without knowledge. Not without community. Not without hope.
